Mosaics
in public areas have to be extremely durable, and Rosalind always
takes this into account when selecting materials for a project.
High quality adhesives and grouts are used; this is an aspect that
is never skimped on. The end result is a tough product, and vandalism
is rarely a problem even in sites traditionally seen as vulnerable.
Graffiti can be cleaned off using standard techniques.
Often
the mosaic is part of an overall scheme involving major construction
work. Rosalind is experienced in liaising with town planners, architects,
engineers, and the construction industry. Deadlines and budget restraints
are understood and respected.

Rosalind
has carried out commissions for public spaces up and down the country.
These include: a mosaic map in Petersfield, Hampshire; a public
swimming pool in Crediton, Devon; a decorative mosaic in Cadzow
Glen, Hamilton; a mosaic map in Coventry Canal Basin.
Every
project is unique and provides a fresh and exciting challenge. If
necessary Rosalind will carry out research in local libraries, newspaper
archives, and with historical societies. Sometimes she holds public
meetings; contact and good relations with the public are important
and lead to a successful and well-received project. Interest by
the local media is respected, and Rosalind and her team try to accommodate
the requirements of journalists and television crews.
